Tokyo Katsushika Shibamata - The story of Tora-san!

Shibamata, Katsushika-ku, Tokyo - the real-life location of the movie "Tora-san's Story". The original Japanese name of the movie is "男はつらいよ", which is known as the longest movie series in the world today. A total of 48 films were shot from 1969 to 1995 until the death of the lead actor Atsumi Kiyoshi! The film tells the story of a crazy boy with small eyes, square face, Torajiro, who travels around. The film is full of Japan's beautiful natural and cultural scenery. The protagonist Torajiro is a man who is determined to live his own life. He is very popular with women, but he knows that his wandering and casual personality cannot bring happiness to others. Ordinary people may not do anything great, but they have visited many places and met all kinds of people and things in their lives. Perhaps this is also a kind of success! Take the Keisei Kanamachi Line and get off at Shibamata Station. The station is filled with posters of every one of Torajiro's movies. There are statues of Torajiro and his sister at the exit. Not far from the station is the Teishaku Shopping Street, which often appears in movies. There is a toy museum from the Showa era in front of the street. Both sides of the street are shops selling specialty products. The most famous one is Toraya (the shop of Torajiro's uncle in the movie). The shop is filled with movie posters, and the dango that often appears in movies is the specialty of this shop. At the end of the commercial street is Tekyō-ji Temple, the temple where the emperor presided in the movie. It takes more than ten minutes to walk to the Torajiro Memorial Hall. The memorial hall is closed on the third Tuesday of every month. The admission fee is 500 yen. You can buy a pass together with the Yamada Yoji Memorial Hall and draw a souvenir for free before entering.
