The high-rise hotel in Tokyo transports guests back to the Edo period, offering the convenience and comfort of modern amenities while experiencing traditional Japanese design and customs. This is a dramatic evolution of the classic Japanese inn. ◆ The concept of HOSHINOYA Tokyo is a "Japanese inn in a tower." Unlike traditional gardens and single-story wooden structures, elements of the Japanese inn are incorporated into a vertical space of two underground floors and seventeen above-ground floors. Following Japanese customs, guests must remove their shoes at the entrance, and no slippers are provided, allowing them to directly experience the scent of rush grass and the feel of tatami mats. The interior of the hotel is connected by tatami mats, and the guest rooms use natural materials such as tatami rooms and bamboo wardrobes. The lighting in the guest rooms features table lamps with Edo Komon feather patterns, reminiscent of paper lanterns, with light emanating from a lower position to create a tranquil atmosphere.
