Exploring Tokyo under the Cherry Blossoms on the Toden Arakawa Line

This time, I recommend a journey along the Toden Arakawa Line to explore the old Tokyo. With Tokyo's rapid development, streetcars that occupied road space were gradually phased out. Today, the Toden Arakawa Line is one of the few remaining streetcars in Tokyo. Japanese writer Haruki Murakami described the Arakawa Line in his work 'Norwegian Wood': 'The streetcar runs close to the eaves of houses, with ten tomato pots lined up on one house's balcony, and a big black cat sunbathing nearby. You can see children blowing soap bubbles in the yard, hear Ishida Ayumi's songs from somewhere, and even smell the aroma of coffee.' These sentences vividly depict the flavor of old Tokyo along the Arakawa Line. After purchasing a one-day pass for the Toden Arakawa Line, we start from Waseda University and head to Omokagebashi Station to admire the cherry blossoms along the Kanda River from the bridge. The bridges are close to each other, and with fewer tourists, you can slowly enjoy the scenery and take photos. Next, we head to Asukayama Station and visit Asukayama Park to enjoy a traditional Japanese fair under the cherry blossoms. After selecting delicious food from the food stalls, you can stand under the cherry blossoms and enjoy the song and dance performances. Additionally, from the elevated position in Asukayama Park, you can also see the Toden Arakawa Line trains, creating a picturesque scene of cherry blossoms and streetcars together.
