Free High-Rise Viewing Platform & Light Sculpture Show at Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building

For a free night view and light sculpture show in Tokyo's city area, head to the Nishi-Shinjuku Station on the Marunouchi line. From the underground passageway, follow the signs to the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building, or walk from the west exit of Shinjuku Station, which takes about ten minutes. The observatory is on the 45th floor, offering a 360-degree indoor space to view the night scene through the glass. High-altitude night views are generally similar; it depends on which building is closer. For example, from Azabudai Hill or Roppongi Hill, you can take very close shots of Tokyo Tower; the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building observatory's feature is probably the saturated view of the surrounding Shinjuku skyscrapers. Another recent highlight is the "Tokyo Night & Light" light sculpture show, which is projected at fixed intervals on regular evenings; on weekends or holidays, the theme of the light show changes to Godzilla, which is very cool!
