The Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum is currently holding "Impressionism: From Monet to America," which is celebrating 150 years since the first Impressionist exhibition 😆!! What is Impressionism? I'm sure there are some of you who are wondering, so I'll give you a quick introduction🙋♂️ Impressionism is an artistic movement that began in France, and is a technique that attempts to capture the light and atmosphere around the subject, rather than the outline or color of the object! Impressionist paintings are a little different from the techniques that were generally used up until then, and are characterized by bold brushwork that deliberately shows brush marks and layers of paint, and by ambiguous shapes that do not look realistic😊 The name Impressionism comes from the title of Monet's painting "Impression, Sunrise", which was exhibited at the first independent exhibition held instead of the Salon✨ This exhibition traces the impact and influence that Impressionism brought to Europe and America, and there were about 70 works on display, including works by famous painters such as Monet, Renoir, and Cezanne, as well as Japanese painters who were influenced by Impressionism🖼️ You can't take photos of the works, but you can concentrate on looking at the paintings✌️ There are several photo spots such as panels, so please take memories there📸 The audio guides are Shou Hayami and Oji Suzuka!
