[Hirai Shirahige Shrine/Tokyo] Spacious grounds and unique lion statues

Hirai Shirohige Shrine in Edogawa Ward, Tokyo 𓂃◌𓈒𓐍 𓂃◌𓈒𓐍𓂃◌𓈒𓐍𓂃 A shrine enshrined as the guardian deity of the former Sakai village. It is said to have been founded during the Kenji era of the Kamakura period. During the Muromachi period, the surrounding area was owned by Tsuchiya Sagami no Kami, who was a retainer of Ota Dokan, and after that, successive generations served as the head of the shrine parishioners. Toyouke Inari Shrine, a shrine within the precincts, is on the left after passing through the torii gate. The shrine building is located if you go straight down the approach. The lion dogs were donated in August 1995. They are a bit unique, with long, horizontal faces and distinctive red nails that look like they have been manicured. Beautiful plum blossoms bloom next to the main hall. Right next to it is Sengen Shrine, a sub-shrine outside the precincts.
