The Tokyo National Museum

The Tokyo National Museum, established in 1872, is the earliest museum in Japan. The museum is located in Ueno Park, Taito Ward, Tokyo, Japan, and consists of five exhibitions and a data center: the main museum, the Hyokeikan, the Toyokan, the Heiseikan, and the Horyuji Treasures Museum. The total number of collections is over 110,000, including 89 national treasures of Japan and 644 important cultural properties. The museum is operated by the Independent Administrative Institution National Cultural Property Organization.
