Imperial Palace

#tokyotrip We spent the day discovering the 280 acre gardens of the Imperial Palace. The Kyoto Imperial Palace, known as the "Kyoto Gosho," stands as a symbol of Japan's rich imperial history. While primarily a historical site today, it holds great cultural significance. Japan maintains its imperial family with Emperor Naruhito reigning. However, the Imperial family primarily resides in the Imperial Palace in Tokyo. Kyoto's palace is used for ceremonial events, but not as a residence. The city of Kyoto continues to honor its imperial legacy, with the palace and its splendid gardens open to the public, allowing visitors to step back in time and appreciate the architectural and cultural heritage of Japan's past.
