Meiji Shrine, calamity in the heart of Tokyo

#tokyo Being the favourite garden of Emperor Meiji, the king who initiated the Meiji Revolution to modernize the country, this place was made into a shrine in commemoration of him after his passing. The entrance is located just beside Harajuku station, with the huge Torrii leading visitors into the main shrine. One is expected to walk around 1km before reaching the main shrine deep inside the forest. Being one of the Shinto shrine, many worshippers will visit there for a prayer for prosperity, success and health, and you also can see newly weds holding their traditional wedding ceremony in the shrine as well.
