[Niigata] Kiyotsukyo Gorge Tunnel

#DomesticTravelTrip Kiyotsukyo is one of the three great gorges in Japan, along with Kurobe Gorge (Toyama Prefecture) and Osugidani (Mie Prefecture). In April 1941, it was designated a national scenic spot and natural monument for its beautiful gorge and columnar jointed topography. In 2018, it was chosen as the location for the Echigo-Tsumari Art Festival. The entire tunnel was renovated as part of the Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale 2018, designed by Chinese architectural firm MAD Architects. The tunnel is 750m long. There are three observation points as you walk through the tunnel of light, which is colored in five different colors.
