The West Kai Church is located at the south end of the lively Binjiang Road in Tianjin. At the commercial streets there are huge buildings on both sides of the street, and the church standing tall is an absolutely beautiful landmark. This site selected for the church was not an accident by urban development, but an 18th century. The Holy society deliberately hoped that the bishop's seat would be located in the new Tianjin area at that time, in order to facilitate the spread of communication and doctrine. The riverside road that has been developed has become a lively pedestrian street. With hustling and bustling of the crowd, and the West Kai Church has a mass every time. It is a packed house, which is one of the most active Catholic churches in North China. This is probably the God's will. The Western Kai Church is a Romanesque building built by the French. It is worth mentioning that every brick in the church was from the French mainland. Perhaps the prosperity of the Western Kai Church is now impressed by this full sincerity. But I don’t know how much of it will be left after the years of war and turmoil. One should visit this place and should not forget to sit down for a while and look up at the beautiful dome. Whether it's a new brick or old tile, it carries too many traces of years and history.
