Tianjin's largest park: Ningyuan (a great place to visit in early autumn).

Ningyuan in Tianjin was established in 1906 (the 32nd year of the Guangxu era of the Qing Dynasty) by Yuan Shikai, the Viceroy of Zhili, to promote new policies. He appointed Zhou Xuexi to set up a plantation near Tianjin North Station in the name of the General Bureau of Industry. In 1907 (the 33rd year of the Guangxu era of the Qing Dynasty), the lake was officially opened and the park was built. The idea of building a palace for Empress Dowager Cixi in the park was conceived, and the buildings in the park were carefully planned and designed. "When the park was first built, lakes were dug and mountains were piled up, canals were opened and water was managed, gates were set up and water was introduced, and the lake water was connected with the Jinzhong River outside the park, which was suitable for drainage. There are three rows of houses in the park, called Jianshuixuan." During the period of the Republic of China, warlords fought and the plantation gradually fell into disrepair. In 1930 (the 19th year of the Republic of China), the Beining Railway Bureau bought the park and planned to expand it into a park. It was named "Ningyuan" after the meaning of "only tranquility can lead to distance" in Zhuge Liang's "Jiezi Book", and a monument was erected in the pavilion. In 1937, Japan invaded China, and the southeast part of Beining Park became a Japanese barracks. The buildings in the lake in the park were converted into a Japanese sanatorium, leaving only a corridor from the west gate to the four halls as a tour route. Although it was fully opened after the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, it was not built, and it was in ruins. Beining Park has undergone several constructions during the late Qing Dynasty, the Republic of China and after the liberation. The landscape buildings and historical relics of each period are extremely rich. It is the largest and most intact modern public garden in our city. In February 2010, the Hebei District Committee and the District Government were entrusted by the Municipal Committee and the Municipal Government to carry out the upgrading and renovation project of Ningyuan, highlighting the three major landscape features of "water system, pavilion and pavilion", following the ancient method, restoring the old view, reflecting the historical and cultural connotation, and reproducing the style of the century-old famous garden.
