Phra That Marukhanakhon

Phra That Maruk Khanakhon is the chedi of those born on Wednesday night. Phra That Maruk Khanakhon is the youngest of the seven chedis of Phra That Phanom. It was built less than twenty years ago. It is located at Ban Don Nang Hong Tha, Don Nang Hong Subdistrict, That Phanom District, Nakhon Phanom Province. Wat Maruk Khanakhon, where this chedi is enshrined, is almost three hundred years old. It was built by Phra Boromracha Chao Aew Kan, the ruler of Mueang Maruk Khanakhon. This temple was a prosperous city temple and later became deserted. The original remains are located at Don Nang Hong Songkhro School, opposite the current location of the original temple, separated by Huai Bang Hok, a stream flowing from the Mekong River. After that, the city was moved to Ban Pho. (The area that is now Nakhon Phanom city) Phra That Maruk Khanakhon is enshrined at Wat Maruk Khanakhon, That Phanom District, approximately 40 km from the city center. The pagoda is made of brick and mortar in a square shape, similar to Phra That Phanom but smaller. It was built in 1993. The Maha That Chedi is 50.9 meters high and the base is 20 meters wide on each side. The pagoda is 50.9 meters high, meaning it was built for the 50th year of the King's reign, and the 9 points represent the 9th reign.
