Siriwattanawisut Forest Temple

Wat Pa Siriwattanawisut, Nakhon Sawan Province is a temple of Her Royal Highness Princess Galyani Vadhana Krom Luang Narathiwat Rajanagarindra, built to honor His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej on the occasion of his 80th birthday. The temple is built in the shape of a royal ship on a hilltop, which symbolizes a vehicle that will help one escape from temptation. There is a beautiful structure, the Sri Buddha Gaya Chedi, which stands out on the hilltop, imitating the architecture and Buddhist art of the Buddha Gaya Chedi in India. The Sri Buddha Gaya Chedi is 28 meters high, made of carved red stone, with a white base in the shape of a cone, and the top of the chedi is in the shape of an inverted bell, decorated with gold-painted stucco patterns. There are statues in the niches around the chedi, and around the chedi are standing and sitting Buddha images. Inside the chedi, there is the sacred relic of the Lord Buddha.
