Beihai Wetland Park in Tengchong is a unique place located in the northwest of Tengchong City, Baoshan, Yunnan Province, on the southern slope of Gaoligong Mountain, about 12.5 km from Tengchong City. It is the only national wetland reserve in Yunnan Province. * Formation of the wetland: The wetland is mainly composed of two adjacent natural lakes, Qinghai and Beihai, with a water surface covered by a 1-meter-thick grass mat formed by the roots of various aquatic plants over about 600,000 years. The wetland nurtures and attracts various precious birds, making it a paradise for birds. ① Qinghai is located between mountains at an altitude of 1,950 meters, more than 200 meters higher than Beihai. Due to differences in altitude and environment, the two lakes, only a thousand meters apart, have different characteristics. Qinghai's water is slightly acidic, making it one of the only three acidic lakes in the world. ② Beihai is the source of the Daying River, with most of its water surface covered by a 1-meter-thick grass mat, where lush Beihai orchids, reed mats, wild rice, floating grass, and many unnamed wild grasses and flowers grow. * Floating meadow landscape: Tengchong Beihai Wetland Scenic Area is surrounded by mountains, with a unique geographical location. Beihai Wetland is part of the plateau volcanic dammed lake ecosystem, with large areas of land floating on the water, resembling a colorful giant flower carpet, characterized by complex biodiversity and high productivity. It has high ecological tourism and scientific research value. The area is rich in biodiversity, with many rare plants and animals, such as the Baer's pochard, known as the "panda of birds," and the water shield, known as the "panda of plants." The grass mat in the wetland can support people walking, forming a unique floating meadow landscape. Wetland plants such as wild water chestnuts and water snowflakes are distributed on both sides of the boardwalk, with a faint fragrance of grass in the air. * Best time for photography: Early morning or evening, when the light is soft, is suitable for shooting panoramic views and reflections of the wetland. Especially in the "Mirror of the Sky" photo area near Pier 3, you can take stunning photos.
