The name of Lovers Point comes from the legend that a Chamorro girl fell in love with a young man but could no longer be together. So the girl and the young man made an appointment to go to a high cliff in Tumon Bay, tied their hair together to show that they would never be separated, and then jumped off the cliff to commit suicide. There is a lover's bell in the Lover's Cape Square, which was donated by Shizuoka Prefecture in Japan.
