Kururu Shogawa Waterwheel

The other wheels are lined up with diameters of 4.5m, 5.0m, 5.5m, and 3.6m, respectively, making it the largest five-wheeled waterwheel in Japan. In the waterwheel shed, the largest waterwheel is used to turn a stone mill with a diameter of 2.2m to grind buckwheat. Shogawa is over 800m above sea level, and its cool climate makes it suitable for growing buckwheat. With this in mind, and with the aim of creating a new village based on the buckwheat culture that has been passed down since ancient times, Sobanosato Shogawa was opened as a base facility in 2003, and the five-wheeled waterwheel was built as its symbol. #Travelwithme #Shinobichan
