Hida Takayama [Takayama Jinya]

Name: Takayama Jinya Takayama Jinya is the only site of a magistrate's office in Japan where the main buildings still remain, giving you a taste of the Edo period. In 1692, the 5th year of the Genroku era, the Kanamori clan, who ruled Hida, were ordered by the Edo Shogunate to move to Kaminoyama in Dewa Province (present-day Yamagata Prefecture and part of Akita Prefecture). In the same year, the Edo Shogunate established a government office in Hida as a direct territory, and a magistrate (from the 12th generation onwards, a magistrate) dispatched by the Shogunate carried out the work of governing Hida. Of the 60 or so magistrate's offices and county magistrate's offices that were said to have existed throughout the country at the end of the Edo period, Takayama Jinya is the only one where the main buildings from that time remain. The museum is well worth seeing. Personally, I liked Oshirosu. This is a must-see when touring Hida Takayama. Please come and visit.
