Four Countries and Three Prefectures Trip for Office Workers｜Takamatsu - Ogijima Edition

In the previous itinerary, I mentioned that the original plan was to go to Mt. Tsurugi in Tokushima today, but I found out last minute that the weekday bus to the mountain doesn’t run, so I decided to return to Takamatsu. ⏰So once again, I recommend everyone check the bus schedule in advance, down to the exact day! That’s also why I had an extra day and got the chance to visit Ogijima! And later I realized it was really the right choice not to go to Mt. Tsurugi! If you love cats and don’t go to Ogijima, I would really regret it! 🚢🚶Transportation Taking the ferry should be familiar to everyone by now. Tickets for Ogijima are sold at Pier 3 and 4. The previous two trips were from Pier 1 and 2. Be sure to have cash ready! About half an hour in advance is fine, but if you want a good seat to enjoy the scenery, you should arrive even earlier. The ferry to Ogijima stops at Megijima first, then Ogijima. Buying a combined ticket for both islands is cheaper. I was focused on cat hunting, so I didn’t buy it, which proved to be a wise choice. If you like art, you can visit Megijima, but you’ll need to allow more time. Bicycles are not allowed on Ogijima, so you have to walk, but the island is small, so don’t worry too much about stamina. 🐈Attractions Mainly wanted to see the cats 🐈 Arrived on the island in the morning, but the cats were surrounded by people, so I decided to avoid the peak time and first visited the few attractions on the island, including a certain lighthouse. Walking there is about 2 kilometers. On the way, you pass by the Sunset Cat House and a shrine ⛩️. The natural environment along the way is excellent and there are very few people. Huge spider webs are everywhere, and I even saw shadows resembling legless creatures, so I walked quickly all the way. 🌅The scenery was still very nice with white sandy beaches and blue sea. The lighthouse was closed, so I turned back. 🍞🛍️Food and Shopping Actually, I didn’t spend anything on the island. Lunch was bread bought in Takamatsu. But I want to mention cat treats. My friend and I brought four sticks together. In the morning, we couldn’t find the right time to give them out—some people were petting cats, others taking photos. Near the Cat House, it wasn’t convenient. Some cats didn’t even eat the treats, so I was worried I’d have to take them back home. But by the afternoon, the cats seemed more awake. There were many cats near the port, and one even followed us for a long time, but we really had nothing left. So on one hand, don’t worry too much, but on the other hand, don’t overfeed. The island has plenty of cat food, and eating too many treats in one day isn’t good for the cats’ health. 📝Summary For busy office workers who don’t have time or energy to raise kittens, this is very satisfying. The scenery is also beautiful. Get in line early to board the ferry. Sitting outside, watching the staff waving flags to send off visitors was very heartwarming. They drew a warm ending to this journey.
