Yudong, a thousand-year-old ancient town forgotten by time. There is an ancient town called Yudong in Haimen, historically known as Yuqing, also called "Phoenix City". Legend has it that during the construction of the town, a phoenix-like bird descended here, hence the literati named it "Phoenix City". It originated in the Tang Dynasty, flourished in the Northern Song Dynasty, and prospered in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, with a history of over 1300 years. When I first visited last year, it felt like this place had been completely forgotten by time, with no commerce and no people... The walls were mottled, and every brick and stone seemed to silently sigh. Occasionally, one could encounter an elderly person still holding on to their old house, appearing plain and desolate. When I visited again this year, to my surprise, a small tavern and cultural and creative shops had opened up by the city wall. Perhaps the government is planning to develop tourism. Sitting on the second floor of a small shop, one can overlook the ancient street, with the old city tower outside the window, giving a sense of being in a different world. Those who want to experience the original ecology of an ancient town and the tranquility in the midst of a bustling city can go for a visit, suitable for those nearby or passing by. The development has just begun, so there's no need to make a special trip for tourism yet.
