Fuyue Village, Doushan Town, Taishan City

Fuyue Village in Taishan, Guangdong, was built in 1917 and is one of the fourth batch of villages in Guangdong to be included in the list of traditional Chinese villages. The village is named after its resemblance to a bright moon rising from the water. Fuyue Village is located in Doushan Town, Taishan City, the "No. 1 Hometown of Overseas Chinese in China." There is little commercial promotion here, and few tourists. Without the hustle and bustle of tourists, the village is quiet and simple, and retains its original flavor. You can stroll around the village and enjoy the beauty of the ancient village. The Western-style buildings in Fuyue Village were designed by foreign architects hired by overseas Chinese and built in their hometowns. They feature Western architectural styles such as ancient Roman domes and ancient Greek columns, as well as traditional Lingnan architectural art. The buildings are mainly Western-style and very charming. Walking into the village, you can see Western-style buildings everywhere, which are elegant and magnificent, and complement the vast rural scenery around them. In terms of overall layout, Fuyue Village continues the Chinese folk feng shui pattern of having a mountain behind and water in front, or digging a pond in front of the village to gather water and generate wealth. Although there is no small mountain behind Fuyue Village, traditional houses are mostly built in low-lying areas, while Western-style buildings are tall and towering behind the village, playing the role of a "backing mountain." The Western-style buildings in Fuyue Village were designated as a cultural relic protection unit in Taishan City in 2002 and a cultural relic protection unit in Guangdong Province in 2008. These buildings not only witness the social changes and cultural exchange history of the Taishan area, but also have important significance for the study of overseas Chinese culture and architectural art. Today, Fuyue Village, with its quiet and simple rural style and rich cultural connotations, has gradually become a popular tourist destination in Taishan, attracting many tourists to visit.
