🏞️[Taipei Grand Hike] Surrounding the Stunning Taipei 101 Skyline 🌇 Section 5: Jiantan MRT Station ➜ Bishan Rock Section 6: Chinese University of Science and Technology ➜ Fuyang Natural Ecological Park 🌤️ Today's mission is to complete sections 5 and 6 of the "Taipei Grand Hike" in one go, totaling approximately 23 kilometers! This route traverses Taipei's mountains and city, like a shimmering green curve on the skyline.✨ 🚉 From the city to the mountains Departing from Jiantan MRT Station at 9:00 AM, I crossed the bustling Zhongshan North Road, where the clatter of cars and people seemed to greet me with a stare. Ascending the steps along the Yuanshan Scenic Area trail, the city's hustle and bustle soon faded, leaving only the chirping of insects, birds, and a cool breeze. 🍃 🏞️ The first highlight was the familiar observation deck! This is a favorite spot for hikers and photography enthusiasts, offering panoramic views of Taipei City and Songshan Airport ✈️, and the occasional spectacular sight of planes taking off and landing. On the other side, you can gaze out over Guanyin Mountain, the Guandu Plain, and the Datun Mountain Range – a breathtaking view that's sure to make you stop and stare. 🏔️ Enjoy both mountain views and the 100 Small Peaks! Today, in addition to hiking Taipei, we also managed to "pick up a mountain"—two of the 100 Small Peaks: ⛰️ Jiantan Mountain: A great entry point near the city, with stunning views. 🌄 Nangang Mountain: Taipei's famous "101 Viewpoint," picture-perfect day and night. Even though it was a weekday, we still encountered many fellow hikers along the way. Everyone exchanged greetings and encouragement, and their shared camaraderie was truly touching 🤝. 🍱 Enjoy delicious food while hiking! At 11:30 AM, we reached Bishanyan. First, we stood in front of the temple, taking in the magnificent views of the Taipei Basin. Then, we took a bus down the mountain to Neihu for lunch. 😋 After a short rest, we took another bus for another hour to the Chinese University of Science and Technology, ready for our afternoon sixth leg! 🌿 Leg 6: A Green Miracle in the City Starting at the Chinese University of Science and Technology trailhead at 1:30 PM, Leg 6, primarily a forest trail, winds along the border of Nangang and Xinyi. The lush greenery and the chirping of cicadas along the way made it hard to forget we were still in Taipei! 🌳 The destination was Fuyang Natural Ecological Park, an ecological wonderland nestled within the city. With its rich insect and plant life, it's a great place for weekend getaways. We arrived at the finish line at 4 PM, and the sense of accomplishment upon completion was incredibly satisfying. 💪 🏁 Halfway point reached! At this point, I'm halfway through my Taipei Great Trail. ✅ From the majestic Yangmingshan to the skyline of Taipei 101, each section feels like an adventure exploring the diverse soul of this city. The remaining half, I'll have to wait until the end of the month for the weekend to continue! 🔥 🌟 A Brief Introduction to the Taipei Great Trail The Taipei Great Trail is a long-distance hiking route planned by the Taipei City Government, connecting the mountain ranges surrounding Taipei. It stretches approximately 130 kilometers. It encircles the entire Taipei Basin, traversing the Yangmingshan, Datunshan, and Nangangshan mountain ranges. It's a classic hiking route offering both mountain and city views.
