Thermal Valley, also known as 'Hell Valley,' has such a scary name because the hot spring water here reaches temperatures of 90-100 degrees Celsius and emits white smoke, making it look like a scene from hell from a distance. The hot spring water here is milky white and quite acidic, with a pH value of around 1-2. The water contains sulfur, giving the air a faint smell of boiled eggs. Although the smell can be a bit pungent, it has been one of the sources of Beitou's hot springs for centuries!
