Taiwan New Cultural Movement Memorial Hall

The Taiwan New Cultural Movement Memorial Hall is established on the site of the Taipei North Police Station, a designated historic site. It was formerly the Datong Branch of the Taipei Police Department and now serves as the Taiwan New Cultural Movement Memorial Hall. The historic site carries significant historical meaning, providing a contemporary perspective on history and shaping new culture. It has been open to the public since October 14, 2018. The predecessor of the Taiwan New Cultural Movement Memorial Hall was the North Police Station during the Japanese colonial period. To highlight the authoritative image of the Japanese government at the time, the building adopted the most advanced construction techniques of the time, such as terrazzo and polished stone, and incorporated Western-style columns. Inside the hall, there is a complete fan-shaped detention room and a suspected water prison space preserved to this day (Figure 10).
