2024 Taipei Art Awards

The 2024 Taipei Art Awards made me deeply feel the diversity and vitality of contemporary Taiwanese art! As one of Taiwan's most forward-looking and iconic visual art awards, this award not only witnesses the development of Taiwanese art over the past 40 years but also continues to inspire more creative energy with a spirit of the times. The 10 shortlisted artists in this exhibition each presented unique works. From personal inner emotions to social justice, from historical memory to space colonization, the topics are wide-ranging and dazzling. They skillfully use various methods such as video, installation, and meta-theater, especially using a lot of moving images as the main narrative axis, giving the works more layers and fun. The jury chairman, Hu Yongfen, mentioned that this generation of young creators has shown a distinct style and deep thinking on issues, and they strike a balance between seriousness and humor, making the works more attractive. It also made me feel that the style and value of the 'Taipei Art Awards' have gradually become clear, becoming a platform focused on planned and thematic creations, providing more possibilities for contemporary art. Overall, this exhibition is not only a visual feast but also a collision and inspiration of thoughts.
