📍Address: 100 Donghua North Road, Songshan District, Taipei
💰Average cost per person: $600
🏖️Environment/Facilities: Large outdoor crescent-shaped swimming pool
🕰️Business hours: 24 hours
Just went on a family trip to Taipei and stayed at ILLUME Hotel next to the Taipei Arena. Although it is a four-star hotel, it has the grandeur of a five-star hotel. This hotel is very suitable for attending concerts at the Taipei Arena, as it is just a short walk away. There are also many dining options nearby in the evening. The hotel room is still very spacious even after placing two beds, and it is clean and tidy. It also has a gym and an outdoor swimming pool, giving it a high-end feel. Highly recommend adding the buffet breakfast, the restaurant has a very high ceiling and is very beautiful.
Authentic Chengdu 'Mm Chicken Knife' Skewers in Taipei for 10 NTD.
Taipei has opened a skewer hotpot restaurant, and its chain stores are increasing, creating a small trend. It is said that the owner is from Chengdu, and I personally think both the spicy and white broths are delicious. It's a late-night diner for spicy food lovers and night owls, open from noon to 5 AM. 😃
🌟 The entrance has a large red sign with colorful retro lights, and the overall decoration is very thoughtful! Inside the store, there are two large refrigerators with over 40 types of skewers, including vegetables, meats, and hotpot ingredients, all priced at 10 NTD per skewer (but the portions are small, perfect for friends with small appetites). Ordering a few meat dishes is still very satisfying.
🌟 Special Sichuan Spicy and Pork Bone Double Broth for 1-2 people costs 380 NTD. We chose mild spicy, which was not enough, so we went up to medium spicy, which was just right. The broth is flavorful with a good balance of spiciness, and it contains duck blood and tofu. Let it simmer for a while for an even better taste. 😋
🌟 You can grab skewers like pickled pepper beef, squid tentacles, tribute vegetables, and boneless ribs for 10 NTD each. The more you eat, the more addictive it becomes. For individual meat dishes, we recommend beef balls and Matsusaka pork. Sichuan wide noodles cost 150 NTD (a large bucket in China), the portion is small and expensive but chewy and delicious. Don't cook it too long, or you can replace it with Prince noodles for a more Taiwanese flavor. 💕
✔️ Do not order the pepper chicken feet! They are cold and hard.
💯 They also have red sugar glutinous rice cakes for dessert, perfect to end the meal. Remember to buy the 20 NTD spicy sauce with Baoning vinegar and chili oil. It's great for gatherings with friends, and the eating style is fun. Highly recommended! 👍

Taipei's recommended green plant art bar 'Monkie'
Recently, I've been loving this stylish bar. The cocktails are almost always a hit, each one unique in its own way. The cocktail designs are beautiful, and the overall ambiance and lighting in the bar make it very comfortable, perfect for a drink. 🍸
🌟 The green plant art on the bar and the rows of liquor shelves behind it look stunning under the lighting. The arrangement of tables and chairs and the appropriate spacing make it very comfortable to sit. The copper mirrors on the ceiling and walls reflect the space, making it feel spacious.
🥂 There's a drink not on the menu called 'Old Taipei,' made with tea-distilled vodka or tequila. Each table is served complimentary popcorn, which is perfectly sweet and salty. 💕
🥂 Each person has a minimum order of two cocktails, with no time limit. The bar is newly opened but doesn't have many seats, so it's recommended to make a reservation in advance!

🌟 The beer selection is decent, though slightly smaller compared to other branches. They offer classic styles and various IPAs with a good range of bitter and mature flavors. The fried snacks are just okay, but they go well with the beer!

Hike to Elephant Mountain
Elephant Mountain (象山 or Xiangshan) is a mountain in eastern Taipei City. The relatively short trail up the 184-meter mountain provides unbeatable city views, making it Taipei’s most famous hike and one of Taiwan’s most well-known attractions.
The Elephant Mountain trailhead is a mere 0.85 km (0.5 mi) from Taipei 101.
This means you can hop directly from the country’s most famous landmark and ritziest neighborhood to a natural, jungle setting in less time that it takes to crush one bubble tea.

The hotel offers delivery service for Fuzhen Soy Milk! Save time from queuing.
This time, I booked a 3-night stay at City Suites (Taipei Beimen Branch) through Trip.com. Check-in is from 3:00 PM to 6:00 AM the next day, and check-out is before 11:00 AM. No meals are included, so the price is quite affordable. The hotel is very close to the metro station 👍🏻. There's a 7-11 right next to the hotel, making it convenient to buy snacks and drinks.
I booked a twin room this time, and the room was bigger than expected. There was even a sofa, so there's no problem with luggage storage. The environment is clean and comfortable with minimal noise 🤩.
One more thing to mention, the hotel offers delivery service for Fuzhen Soy Milk. This breakfast shop is very popular in Taipei, and you usually have to queue for at least an hour. If you place an order with the front desk before 5:00 PM the day before, it will be delivered to the hotel the next morning. You can enjoy your breakfast leisurely at the hotel 🤤. You can choose between thick egg with youtiao or savory rice ball with egg. The price is not much higher than ordering on-site, but it saves time!
