【Taipei】The Taipei Main Station lobby with a black and white chessboard and a smiley face pattern

This is the station hall of Taipei Main Station. I believe many people will pass by here when taking the high-speed rail or Taiwan Railway to and from Taipei. The architectural designs on both sides here are very distinctive. On one of the walls there is an art installation based on the concept of a clock, called the "Beep Clock". The ground is laid out in the pattern of a black and white chessboard. When you get closer, you'll see some smiley emoticons in the black squares, which is quite interesting. According to the Taiwan Railway Administration, the meaning of these smiling floor stickers is to reflect the friendly and inclusive image of the station.
