Grindelwald First 🇨🇭

First Peak, 2168 m above sea level, is one of the interesting destinations for easy hiking on an easy route during the summer. Highlights include the lake in the middle of the mountain (Bachalpsee) / First Flyer (did not try, didn't dare 😅) and First Cliff Walk (when we went, it seemed like it wasn't open yet). To get to the peak, we have to take a train from Interlaken Ost to Grinderwald, which takes about 30-40 minutes. When we got off the Grinderwald train station, we followed the signs to the top of the mountain, which took about 10-15 minutes to walk. After that, we took the cable car, which felt like we were in an amusement park with a view of mountains and grasslands, which took about 40 minutes. From this point, we walked for another 1-2 hours to reach the lake in the middle of the mountain (Bachalpsee). Throughout the journey, we heard bells ringing on both sides, which were the sounds of bells hanging from the necks of cows living around. Many people may worry that hiking on First Mountain is difficult, but in fact, the trail is built as a flat path. It can be said that whether we come to hike with our favorite bicycle, come with a gang, or even bring a stroller to walk on the mountain, we can do it comfortably. We will see that First Mountain in summer has almost no snow left along the way. Therefore, if you want to experience snow in summer, you will have to go to a mountain that is higher than 3,500 m above sea level. For those who come to visit Interlaken, hiking at First Mountain is another interesting option besides Jungfrau Mountain. The main reasons we chose First Mountain are: 1. The cost is 2-3 times cheaper. 2. We can walk and enjoy the atmosphere continuously without getting bored because there are many interesting things on both sides of the road. 3. We don't have to be crowded with people. However, it depends on each person's preference.
