[Siem Reap, Cambodia] Beng Mealea Ruins [Sightseeing]

#sightseeing ┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈ 📍Beng Mealea Ruins (បឹងមាលា) ┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈ Ruins located about 50 km east of Siem Reap. Restoration has not progressed much, making this a valuable ruin that retains the state it was in when it was discovered. It is said to have been built in the 12th century by Suryavarman II, who also built Angkor Wat, but the details remain shrouded in mystery as no historical inscriptions have been found. The ruins are close to the hometown of Suryavarman II's mother, and one theory is that the king, grieving over the death of his mother, built the temple to commemorate her. ┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈ Beng Mealea ruins are a facility that requires the "Angkor Pass" to enter certain ruins. 🎫 We didn't have one yet, so we purchased an "Angkor Pass" at the ticket office about a 3-minute drive from the entrance to the ruins. It will be your own ticket with a photo taken at the counter, so you can take it home as a souvenir! The interior is spacious and characterized by its symmetrical design. The structure is quite similar to Angkor Wat, which is why some people believe it was built by Suryavarman II. When a movie was shot here in 2008, a wooden walkway was laid, and now you can walk along it to see the sights. There are some ups and downs, so we recommend wearing sneakers or other comfortable clothing. 👟 ┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈ The interior is divided into the first, second, and third corridors, just like Angkor Wat. However, you have to go around the collapsed areas to see the sights, so once inside you lose your sense of direction and it's hard to get the whole picture. 😵💫 Particularly impressive are the lawns that spread out after the first corridor, and the library, which has relatively little collapse. The decadent atmosphere is like "Laputa" and very mysterious 🌱 Compared to other ruins, there were fewer tourists, so I was able to enjoy the ruins at my own pace.
