Xiangmen: Contrasting the old & the new 🀄️✨

Xiangmen is one of the eight historic gates surrounding Suzhou’s old district which guarded the city in the past. While certain parts of the wall has been restored, the rest of it is believed to date back to around the 1660’s. Walk to the top of the wall and you’ll see the contrast between the old part and the new one. There’s also a museum on the ground floor showcasing the evolution of the city wall. If you go there in the late afternoon/ evening, the city lights and the dancing grandmas at front square bring so much life to this place!
