Shen Deqian's Former Residence

Shen Deqian was a minister, poet, and scholar of the Qing dynasty. His former residence, 'Jiaozhongtang', faces south with its back to the north, and is adjacent to the classical garden Wangshi Garden to the east. It is now a cultural relic protection unit of Suzhou City, the Suzhou Kunqu Opera Training Center, and the Shiquan Street Central Station of Suzhou City Tourist Information Center. Shen Deqian's former residence is a three-section old house with wooden structure from the Qing dynasty, covering an area of about 400 square meters. It is now open to the public for free. When passing by to visit Wangshi Garden, you can also take a look and experience the charm of the ancient house.
