Fan Zhongyan Memorial Hall

Suzhou Tianping Mountain Villa is a group of ancient architectural complexes, built by Fan Yunlin, the seventeenth-generation descendant of Fan Zhongyan, a famous minister of the Song Dynasty, during the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty. The pavilions, halls, and galleries are built along the mountains, with rocks, ponds, and flowers interspersed among them, enhancing the charm of the mountain forest. Suzhou Tianping Mountain was originally the ancestral burial ground of the Fan family, hence it is also known as 'Fan Tomb Mountain'. The Fan Zhongyan Memorial Hall is built in the architectural style of the Song Dynasty, featuring a courtyard-style hall layout, divided into three halls, one corridor, and one room, with a total area of 600 square meters. The northern hall serves as the preface hall, mainly introducing Fan Zhongyan's biography, the Fan family genealogy, and other content. The central hall focuses on introducing the achievements of Fan Zhongyan's life, while the southern hall displays his literary accomplishments, including Fan Zhongyan's poems, prose, poetry, calligraphy, and various research monographs and papers on Fan Zhongyan from different regions. The memorial hall is divided into four exhibition halls. The first hall displays Fan Zhongyan's bust, the poem 'Memorial to Yueyang Tower', and materials related to the opening of the memorial hall. The second hall displays Fan Zhongyan's biography and his great achievements while serving as an official in Suzhou. The third hall showcases Fan Zhongyan's literary achievements and materials related to integrity education.
