Khao Disalak Temple

Wat Khao Disalak is located in Don Kha Subdistrict, U Thong District. It is a beautiful temple on the top of a hill. Inside, there are 108 auspicious footprints of the Buddha, which are thousands of years old. They were made of red sandstone. The Fine Arts Department has registered them as antiques and built a beautiful Thai-style pavilion to cover them. Wat Khao Disalak has improved the landscape on the top of the hill, offering a beautiful view of the surrounding U Thong District. The replica of the Buddha footprint is made of red sandstone and is different from other footprints found elsewhere. Archaeologists believe that it is Dvaravati art, dating back to the 14th-16th Buddhist centuries. In addition, there is a cavity in the rock with Buddha images and other antiques. Above the pavilion where the Buddha footprint was placed, there is a Naga staircase leading up to the hill. On top is a hall containing the Buddha's relics. However, if you are too lazy to walk up, you can sit and relax or take pictures with a flock of peacocks that the temple raises. Footprints of the Buddha, Wat Khao Disalak The footprints of the Buddha at Wat Khao Disalak are single footprints. Carved from red sandstone, 65.50 centimeters wide and 150.50 centimeters long, the upper part is carved with the five toes of the Buddha's footprint, the middle of the sole is carved in the shape of a Dharmachakra with 108 auspicious patterns in a circle, arranged around it. The artistic characteristics of the footprint are assumed to be a work of the late Dvaravati period, around the 16th-17th Buddhist century. The Buddha's footprint is a symbol, representing the appearance of the Buddha. It is also a "Utesika Chedi" where people in the past worshipped to commemorate the grace of the Lord Buddha. Directions Take Highway No. 340, turn left onto Route 357 (before reaching Suphan Buri town), go straight for 10 km, you will find a fork, turn left onto Malai Man Road (321), then go along the long road for about 21 km, heading towards U Thong District until you reach the U Thong intersection. Turn right for about 3 km. You will find the entrance to the temple on the left (there is a sign). Follow the road for about 10 km. You will find a winding road up the mountain to see the Buddha's footprint. Follow the road until you reach the top of the mountain. #TravelSuphanBuri #PlacesToVisitNearBangkok #KeepDrivingIfTiredTakeABreak #mind_madge #Thailand #CentralTeam
