Wat Kae, Khun Phaen’s house, Phaya To Yak, a thousand-year-old tamarind tree, Mueang District, Suphan Buri Province “Wat Kae” is a temple that appears in the inscription of Khun Chang Khun Phaen literature and is the temple where Khun Phaen came to ordain and study magic. It is believed that this temple has been around since the Ayutthaya period. The history is recorded in the epic poem “Khun Chang Khun Phaen”, which is believed to have actually happened in the Ayutthaya period, around the time of Chao Sam Phraya. It is important because it is the temple where Khun Phaen came to study the art of turning tamarind leaves into wasps and hornets with Phra Ajarn Kong. Inside the temple, there is also a giant tamarind tree that can be hugged by 9 people and is over 1,000 years old. It is believed that it is the same tree that Phra Ajarn Kong used to teach Khun Phaen the art of turning tamarind leaves into wasps and hornets. In the temple, there are many ancient sacred objects, such as the Rattanakosin-style Buddha footprint, as well as the Maha Udom shrine, which has no back door and only one entrance and exit, which is where “Phra Phuttha Mongkhon”, the principal Buddha image, is enshrined, which is extremely beautiful.
