Morocco🇲🇦 third largest city Marrakech was founded in 1062 AD and has twice been the capital of the Moroccan dynasty of the Almoravids and the Almohads. In 1985, UNESCO listed the old city of Marrakech as a cultural heritage site on the World Heritage List. Marrakech has the largest open-air market in Morocco and the most prosperous square in all of Africa, the Jemaa el-Fnaa. It is home to the Koutoubia Mosque, known as the 'Fragrant Minaret', the largest theological college in North Africa, the remains of the Seven Saints, the garden where YSL once lived, and the most authentic Moroccans... The new city of Marrakech was built in 1913, with many European-style buildings, wide streets, and a modern atmosphere. A city that you probably won't want to leave once you arrive.
