A colonial icon in Singapore, CHIJMES

#singapore Established in 1841, the CHIJMES (Convent of Holy Infant Jesus Middle Education School) was a Catholic Convent, then converted Hotel Complex of the Girls School, which finally transformed to Victoria Girls School. After her desactification and the schools were moved to Toa Payoh, the government acquired the land and restored the entire building. This place was reopened in 1996 after 5 and a half years of restoration works and is converted to a plaza of themed retail, bars and food and beverage outlets, which is when the name CHIJMES is given. Today, this iconic building is a hub for many people to hang out in the cities. The hall is also open for reservation for various wedding functions as well.
