A century of splendor: Goodwood Park Hotel

Goodwood Park Hotel is located in the prime location of Orchard Road shopping district. It has a history of more than 100 years and is one of the three national heritage hotels in Singapore (the other two are Raffles and Fullerton). This hotel has won numerous awards and has hosted many celebrities, including boxing champion Ali, former British Prime Minister Sir Edward Heath, the Duke of Windsor, the Queen of the Netherlands, Andrea Bocelli, movie star Chow Yun-fat, etc. The hotel was built in 1900 and was formerly a German club. The building itself is a mixture of European Tudor style and Nanyang style, set in a lush garden. Being in it is like traveling through time and space and returning to the past. Although the renovated guest rooms are not as luxurious as I had imagined, I was still impressed by the old flavor and details of the hotel, and it still felt very comfortable. The hotel is well-equipped with facilities such as a swimming pool, souvenir shop, fitness center, conference hall, etc. There are several well-known local restaurants in the hotel, among which Minjiang Sichuan Restaurant has won numerous awards and has been the filming location of movies. The hotel’s durian series of desserts are also very famous in Singapore and Asia.
