Japanese Cemetery Park

#singaporetrip Although I don't know much about the history of this place but it was here since when I visited here as a young boy. Today, after my lunch at one of the coffee shop nearby, I decided to go and take a look. I was surprised by the number of visitors coming here, and they were having a great time there taking pictures of themselves with the surroundings. The flowers are blooming, remind me of Sakura flowers blooming

Japanese Cemetery Park

#exploresgtogether #attractions #history The Japanese cemetery park is located in Hougang. It is the largest Japanese cemetery in Southeast Asia at 29,359 square metres, consisting of 910 tombstones that contain the remains of members of the Japanese community in Singapore, including young Japanese prostitutes, civilians, soldiers and convicted war criminals executed in Changi Prison. It was gazetted as a memorial park by the Singapore government in 1987. The park is typically opened 8am to 6pm and the bougainvillaeas flowers can be seen in full bloom at different times of the year. It’s always a sight to behold with many comparing it to the likes of Japan’s cherry blossoms. Although a pretty photo spot, do also bear in mind to be respectful as it is after all a cemetery.
