Easter Lunch at the Historic Alkaff Mansion

Lush trees and other greenery surround it. It’s ambiance gives off a calming vibe which makes it a great venue to meet family or friends if you want to escape the busy restaurants or nightlife in the city. Currently, it has three dining options in it’s vicinity - al fresco terrace dining at TXA Gastrobar, Wildseed Cafe at it’s ground level and UNA at it’s second floor. I learned online it’s a historic mansion, built since 1918 but then eventually developed into a dining establishment. There are several sites online (e.g. Wikipedia, Alkaff, etc) which details it’s rich history - how it came to be what it was now from being a private residence and having risen from a state of disrepair post-World War 2 after being sold off. I was treated to a lunch at Wildseed Cafe. They have indoor and outdoor seating. I noticed that most of patrons who have pets stay outdoors (yes, they are a pet-friendly cafe). There were a lot of food & drink items to choose from! We were only two so we settled for truffle mayonnaise curly fries for appetizer, pasta dishes as mains, fresh calamansi juice for drinks, tiramisu & brownie for sweets and mocha & salted caramel latte to end our meal. Mains ordered were superb - but if you are a light eater, you may have to share ;) Their tiramisu, for me, lacks a bit of a “punch” & the texture of their brownie can be improved. Surprisingly, their coffee was great!!! Given the taste and serving portion of their food, for me, it’s great value for money.
