Best Sichuan Buffet for only $40?

Address: Tong Fu Ju Sichuan Restaurant, 50 Boat Quay Singapore 049839 Price: 💰 💰 Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Nearest MRT: Clark Quay, City Hall, Raffles Place, Chinatown, Telok Ayer Located along the Singapore River, we found this restaurant, specialized in traditional Sichuan Cuisine. We were greeted warmly by their staffs as they sat us down inside. Opting for the Sichuan Grilled Fish buffet at $40 per person, we were pleased with the extensive menu featuring 7 flavors of Grilled Fish and 18 Sichuan classic dishes for pairing. Fearing the common Sichuan pitfalls of excessive saltiness or oiliness, we cautiously ordered a few dishes at a time to avoid food wastage. Our selections: 1. Hot and Spicy grilled fish - 10/10 The fish was so soft and tender and it came boneless! The sauce was adjusted to our spice level but it was not salty nor too oily. It was a simple sinful main dish to pair with some rice. 2. Egg Fried Rice - 10/10 My boyfriend swore it's the best egg fried rice he has had. I agreed that the rice was well seasoned and I love how they added some vegetable to the dish. 3. Shrimp Chips "Prawn Crackers" - 10/10 I think they are homemade, I ordered 2 rounds of this as it paired well with the main fish. As it's freshly fried to order, there may be some oil on the crackers still - just drained it with the tissue available. 4. Spicy Clams "LaLa" - 8.5/10 - My boyfriend loved it, the flavor was well balanced, not too spicy, not too salty. The portion was very generous (I don't eat clams, so my boyfriend was full from this)! 5. Griddle Cooked Chicken Wings - 8.5/10 - It's the same seasoning as the Clams, except in dry form. We really loved this dish a lot!. I personally find the chicken difficult to eat as it has bone still, but it is Chicken Wings after all! Great dish, must order! 6. Griddle Cooked Cabbage & Baby Kailan with Garlic - A great side to help cut down the meat and carbs consumed. Adds some freshness and cleanse your palette as Sichuan food can be quite heavy on the taste bud. 7. Deep Fried Mantou - 10/10 We ordered 2 plates of this. It came with some condense milk, so it can be served as a sweet dessert or you can dip your mantou buns into the grilled fish gravy. Overall I really enjoyed my dinner at Tong Fu Ju Sichuan Restaurant! The food avoided the expected pitfalls, steering clear of excessive saltiness and oiliness. No post-meal thirst, just satisfaction. For buffet patrons, indoor seating is available (a welcome reprieve from Singapore's humidity). Alternatively, outdoor seats along the river offer a splendid sunset backdrop against the city skyline. An enjoyable dinner indeed! #freehotelstay
