Hindu Buddhist temple

#bucketlistreboot Angkor Wat was built by the Khmer King Suryavarman II in the early 12th century as his state temple and eventual mausoleum. It is located around 7 kilometers away from Siem Reap town. By the end of the 12th century, Angkor Wat had turned into a Buddhist temple. In the 16th century, the temple was neglected, the moat helped to preserve the temple from the encroaching jungle. The five towers represent the five peaks of Mount Meru and the wall and moat represent the mountain ranges and ocean respectively. Most Khmer temples were built facing the east, but not Angkor Wat, facing the west led to many to believe that Suryavarman intended to be his final resting place, so due to the fact that it was dedicated to Vishnu. Angkor Wat is the reason why nearly everyone comes to Siem Reap. It is the world's largest religious monument, There is no reason why you do not visit Angkor Wat when you come to Siem Reap.
