[Gifu] This is the original Japanese landscape! Introducing Shirakawa-go

Shirakawa-go is a gassho-style village that was registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1995. It is thought that the thatched roofs were designed to reduce the work of removing snow and to utilize the attics (for sericulture, etc.). The spirit of mutual assistance, called "yui," is deeply rooted in the area, and the residents live by helping each other out in the harsh winter. In autumn, the fields turn golden, and the nostalgic Japanese scenery, even if you see it for the first time, is calming.
