[Toyama Prefecture] An unspoiled Japanese landscape! A panoramic view of the World Heritage site of Shirakawa-go

Shirakawa-go, a World Heritage Site, is one of Japan's three most remote areas, and is home to Japan's original landscape. Compared to Gokayama Ainokura and Suganuma on the Toyama side, the village is larger and has become the most touristy. (Personally, I prefer Gokayama because of its traditional atmosphere.) This is the Shiroyama Tenshukaku Observatory, located about a 10-minute drive up the mountain from the village. This is privately owned land, but with the cooperation of the villagers, an observation deck has been set up that offers a panoramic view of the Shirakawa-go countryside. Both admission and parking are free, but there is a privately-established photo spot at the entrance where photographers are waiting. It is up to the customer whether they buy the photos taken or not... The space at the observation deck is small and there is a long line, so you can't stay there for long. It is very convenient because there is a cafe, a restaurant (reservation required), a souvenir shop and a place to rest next to the observation deck. You can go down to the village from the parking lot at the observation deck, but on the other hand, there are many tourists who come up from the village on foot, and the road is narrow, so you need to be careful when driving.
