On the weekend in Shenzhen, I discovered the entrance to the Green Light Forest in Dalang

Shenzhen is too unfriendly to workers; it rains every weekend. What to do if you don't dare to hike? Just go for a walk! Where to walk? The first thing that comes to mind is a place with lush greenery, because the more it rains, the greener the plants become, looking more vibrant and full. After searching for a while, I decided on the Dalang Greenway. When I stood at the entrance of the greenway and looked inside, I knew I had made the right choice. The rich greenery almost seemed to spill out from the entrance. 📍The Dalang Greenway circles around the Qikeng Reservoir for a total of 8.7km, divided into the Dalang section and the Fucheng section. Personally, I think the essence is in the Dalang section, with several highlights: A variety of foliage plants such as various ferns and calatheas An impressive grove of bald cypress trees A courtyard surrounded by greenery A magical mountain spring water collection point, where you can see many uncles and aunts transporting water buckets with carts. Only when you get closer do you realize that there is such clear mountain spring water available for free collection. After passing the Dalang section and entering the Fucheng section, I personally feel the scenery is slightly less impressive. The road changes from brick to cement, and there are more trees, especially bamboo, with fewer foliage plants. The atmosphere is not as good as the Dalang section, but it is still quite comfortable to walk. ⚠️Here are some tips: How to get there: The entrance is near the "Dalang Baokun Industrial Zone Bus Stop". You can take the subway to Yangtai Mountain East Station Exit C1 and then take a taxi. You can easily see the entrance with the four big characters "Shenzhen Greenway". When to go: It takes about 3 hours to walk the entire greenway, so it's best to finish before dark. It is recommended to go around 2-3 pm to have enough time. The greenway is shaded throughout, so you don't have to worry about the sun even at noon. What weather is suitable: Any time except for strong winds and heavy rain. When I went today, it was drizzling, but maybe because of a typhoon warning, the security guard initially said we couldn't enter due to the weather. Later, for some reason, they let us in. On rainy days, you can call ahead to avoid a wasted trip. What to prepare: 1) Bring water (although there are many stations along the way, none sell water), mosquito repellent, and an umbrella; 2) Wear non-slip sports shoes (rainy days plus some parts of the road covered with leaves and moss can be slippery); 3) It is recommended to eat well before going, as there are no supplies along the greenway. There are some simple fast food options near the Dalang entrance; 4) Use the restroom beforehand (we didn't see any restrooms along the Dalang section, and there is only one restroom in the latter half of the Fucheng section).
