The place of tranquility is not quiet

It is also known as the South Cathedral of Shenyang, and it is a major national cultural heritage site. It was established by French missionaries during the Tongzhi period of the Qing dynasty. Later, it was destroyed by the Boxers, and rebuilt on the original site during the Republic of China period. A typical Gothic architecture, it makes one feel as if they are in Europe. Across from the church, there is a square where a group of ladies are energetically dancing in a square dance. The modern and the classical, the secular and the pure land, coexist harmoniously in the same scene. From the other end of the small square's stands, taking pictures of the church with a telephoto lens yields better shots. The church is not open to the public on weekdays, but you can enter the courtyard. Even on workdays, you can see many internet celebrities gathering here for photo shoots. The statue of the Virgin Mary stands quietly to the side.
