Yangchan Tulou

Yangchan Tulou is located in Shendu Town, in the southern mountainous area of Anhui. Yangchan, nestled among the mountains of southern Anhui, is a small mountain hamlet built along the slopes. Due to its high elevation and inconvenient transportation, for hundreds of years, the mountain people have used local materials, paving roads and building bridges with nearby bluestone, and constructing nests with red soil and timber to dwell in. They work from sunrise to sunset, drink from mountain springs when thirsty, eat grains when hungry, grow a variety of crops, and continue their lineage. Over the years, this has resulted in a spectacular group of earthen buildings that are densely packed and orderly, simple yet magnificent.
