New Century Hotel Experience: Shaoxing Dayu New Century Grand Hotel

I spent two nights at the Shaoxing Dayu New Century Grand Hotel on the weekend. The hotel itself was renovated from an ancient village of Dayu's descendants. It features white walls, black tiles, and bluestone alleys. It was raining when I went, and the misty rain created a typical Jiangnan charm. The hotel is quite large, and you can call the hotel's free shuttle bus for transportation. But I think walking is also a good option; it generally takes less than 10 minutes to walk anywhere within the hotel grounds. [Location] Dayu New Century Grand Hotel: No. 1990, Erhuan South Road, Yuecheng District, Shaoxing. It's located at the foot of Mount Kuaiji, right next to the Dayu Mausoleum scenic area. There is a small gate in the hotel that leads directly to the Dayu Mausoleum scenic area (but you still need to buy separate tickets for the scenic area!). [Room] I stayed in the new building of the second phase. The front desk said that because there was a group check in on the weekend, they couldn't upgrade my room, so they gave me a room on the top floor, which is the second floor. The room was relatively small, but the facilities and equipment were quite complete. However, the sound insulation was a bit poor. [Parking] Parking is very convenient. The hotel has both ground and underground parking lots, and there are charging stations. It takes about 2.5 hours to drive from Shanghai. [Hotel Dining] 1. Breakfast Restaurant: The buffet is very rich, with many Shaoxing specialties. I recommend the longan stewed egg and the Meigancai cake! Compared to Yu Family Courtyard, I think the food here is better. It would be great if they could offer lunch and dinner buffets, but unfortunately, only breakfast is available. 2. Yu Family Courtyard: This restaurant mainly serves stir-fried dishes, primarily Shaoxing cuisine. There are also group-buy packages, with two-person meals ranging from CNY 138 to about CNY 200. When I checked in, the hotel front desk said they would send a CNY 50 off CNY 200 promo code for Yu Family Courtyard via text message, but I didn't receive it, so I directly bought a group-buy deal. To be honest, the group-buy package was very average; only the rice cakes were delicious, and everything else was just okay. 3. Yu Family Noodle Restaurant: I didn't eat at this noodle restaurant because the noodles were all CNY 88/bowl. They were just ordinary pork chop noodles and beef noodles, which I personally thought was too expensive, so I didn't try them. [Interactive Experiences] 1. Tie-dyeing experience at Wenshuju Bookstore: You can try tie-dyeing small items such as scarves. 2. Daily free experience at the handcraft workshop: There are storytelling sessions by a "Shiye" (traditional advisor), colorful twisty stick crafts, and clay painting DIY. 3. Wupeng Boat: There are routes within the hotel and routes to the Dayu Mausoleum. The cheapest route, a circle around the hotel, is CNY 90.
