Luhu Garden, a garden with a strong ancient Yue culture

Luhu Garden is located on Mazhen South Road in Shaoxing. Legend has it that King Goujian of Yue hunted deer in the southern mountains and raised them here. Later, the Kangxi and Qianlong emperors visited the garden during their southern tours, making it famous. Luhu Garden is a traditional Shaoxing garden. Its pavilions, terraces, towers, and pavilions are built along the water. The roads are paved with old stone slabs, and the columns and doors are made of bluestone. The garden is dotted with trees such as tallow, pomegranate, maple, and poplar. Stone carvings and steles, brick carvings, and wood carvings are unique features of the garden. The small bridges and flowing water exude an ancient Yue culture. The garden also has the Kangxi and Qianlong steles and Qianlong's "Yue Haitang Ji" (Record of the Sea Pond), which show the garden's rich historical and cultural heritage.
