Shangri-la: A cultural and scenic paradise

1. Dukezong Ancient City Highlights - Traditional Tibetan architecture, Food, food, food! Everything is delicious, there are so many good local restaurants to choose from around the town. If you're looking for western: I strongly recommend "The Compass", they have a great western breakfast and menu. Rating - 10/10 2. Address- Ganden Sumtseling Monastery Highlights- All of it. I've visited a lot of temples and monasteries in China, and honestly after a while, they all kind of feel the same but this one is unique in its authenticity and beauty. It really is a must see cultural site on your visit to Shangri-la. Rating- 9/10 3. Address - Balagezong Grand Canyon Nature Reserve Highlights - The views, the super high walkways and zipline. The reconstructed ancient Bala town. you can have a local lunch here: the corn is out of this world delicious. Notes: The only drawback of this scenic area is that your're limited to the bus that takes your from spot to spot and you have a limited time in each place but it's really so worth it for the views. Rating - 9/10 4. Address - Pudacuo Nature Reserve Highlights - Wetland meadows, lakes and flowers. Beautiful scenery. A photographer's heaven for sure. Notes: Limited hiking opportunities. Rating - 7/10 General: Shangri-la is an absoulte gem and a must-see. Yunnan province as a whole is so rich in scenery, culture and cusine but Shangri-la is by far the most unique. #culture #mountains #vistas #meadows #lakes #monastery #
