Largest Tibetan Buddhist monastery in Yunnan

#traveldiaries #yunnan Songzanlin temple or commonly referred to as Little Potala Palace is the largest tibetan buddhist monastery in Yunnan. It is situated at an elevation of 3,380 metres and thus it is advisable to have high altitude sickness pills prior coming to this temple if there is not enough time to adapt to the altitude difference. Originally built in 1679, the temple was extensively damaged in the Cultural Revolution and subsequently rebuilt in 1983. Currently it is a popular tourist attraction and many people wear the traditional dress to take pictures in front of the temple.
